Plan The Perfect Autumn Wedding

Autumn Wedding Ideas - Reds Orange And Green Weddings

Autumn is our favourite season here at Chocablock, not least because we don’t have to worry about chocolates melting in the post anymore (!). It makes a nice change from the scorching dry heat of summer that then gives way to the bitter cold of winter.

The more temperate climate makes it ideal wedding-weather as the propensity for beautiful days that follows crisp mornings with little rain is common. For you and your fiancé, you can look forward to being cool, calm and collected in your wedding attire. Far less sweating from guests and cooler evenings allow for a wedding that is going to be enjoyed by all and sundry.

So now that that’s decided, what kind of wedding ideas can you embrace to mark your Autumn wedding? Cream and ivory lend themselves well to the season and can still be a lighter style but being a little cooler, adding a bridal jacket to over your bare shoulders can add a touch of class to your appearance.

For the bridal party, having the girls in a combination of apricot and light olive hues can be the strongest impact you can make in your photography and your ivory dress amongst them will be complementary and yet still dramatic. A quick search for “bridal party autumn colours” and you’ll see the kind of idea we’re talking about.

Whether hosting your Autumn wedding indoors or outdoors, the season brings a colour scheme of natural, rich and earthy tones, as well, as warm rich golds, burgundy and orange. Bohemian, wineries, gardens and modern/rustic stylings pair beautifully to Autumn. Decorate with leaves, vines, apples, cinnamon sticks, pinecones, juicy purple grapes, miniature fat pumpkins and mix in with tea light candles.

Orange colour ideas for your Autumn wedding reception

Rustic wooden tables and chairs for the guests, simplistic hessian fabric table runners, with centre pieces of autumnal leaves and candles. Highlight the best fresh seasonal produce, and serve larger, more hearty share platters such as roasted baby beetroot, sweet potato fries, char-grilled brussel sprouts with crispy bacon and pomegranate, lush pumpkin soup, pulled pork sliders, deliciously slow cooked beef, fresh apple and berry pie. Nibble on local cheese platters. For drinks, along with the traditional wine and beer, a fruity sangria or a lovely warm spiced wine, a range of apple ciders or an autumn-tinted cocktail will suit just brilliantly.

For your bomboniere, you can opt for personalised wedding favour boxes that match the colour scheme perfectly. Fill each one with delicious Lindt Lindor chocolate balls to create a decadent gift that guests will love, and they can keep the box as a keepsake.

Rather than sticking to traditional wedding flowers. Utilise the best of autumn foliage and the gorgeous autumn palette. Include: acorns, blackberries, ornamental chilli or crab-apples, oak leaves or a draping vine or two. Roses of deep crimson, bold orange and bright yellow. Autumn wildflowers such as violets, poppies, lavender or Easter daisies. Gerberas or tulips in pink and burgundy. Touches of Australian natives such as waratahs or snapdragons make a lovely addition too.

Hopefully these ideas are a great starting point for you and your Autumn wedding plans – have fun with it and relish in the opportunity to use colours that you otherwise may not use.
